Hold it while you drag to bring up the grid. Prefer ⌥, ⌃, ⇧ or a combo like ⌘⌥? Change it in Settings.
GridPin shows a grid while you drag a window. Point at a zone, let go, and the window fills it. It lives in your menu bar and stays out of the way.
Grab any window by its title bar, the way you always do.
The grid appears on that screen. Move over a zone to pick it, or hold ⇧ to span several.
The window moves and resizes to fill the zone. Release ⌘ first if you change your mind.
You already drag windows around. GridPin adds one key to hold, plus two helpers for when you need them.
Hold it while you drag to bring up the grid. Prefer ⌥, ⌃, ⇧ or a combo like ⌘⌥? Change it in Settings.
Hold Shift to stretch the selection from the first cell you hovered, like two columns out of four.
Press Tab mid-drag to switch to your next saved grid without letting go of the window.
Five presets come built in. Make your own with any number of columns and rows, and it's ready the next time you drag. Try them here.
No Dock icon. GridPin sits next to the clock until you need it.
Turn it on once and GridPin is ready every time you start your Mac.
Use ⌘, ⌥, ⌃, ⇧, or a combination like ⌘⌥. It takes effect right away.
Add, edit, reorder or delete your grids. Hide the presets you never use.
Leave space between pinned windows and around the screen edges, or none at all.
Settings shows whether Accessibility access is on, with a button that opens the right pane.
Most windows you can drag by a title bar. A few apps set a minimum window size, so their windows may not shrink all the way into a small cell.
macOS only lets an app move and resize other apps’ windows through Accessibility. GridPin uses it for that and nothing else. There is no account, and the app never connects to the internet.
macOS can tile windows on drag too. If both react, turn off “Drag windows to screen edges to tile” and “Hold Option key while dragging windows to tile” in System Settings › Desktop & Dock, and pause other window managers while you use GridPin.
The grid appears on the display under your cursor, sized to that screen without the menu bar and Dock.
